CHAIRLIFT
"Moth"
Moth is an evolution since the last album, and proves to be
an be an emotionally uninhibited and markedly stronger, more pop inspired
body of work. A very New York City inspired album, listeners can expect
to be led through an aural mix of big, rich pop inspired hooks, vibrating
bass, lively brass and sensuous R&B inspired vocals, all anchored
in the duo s meticulously crafted instrumentation.

BANK
"True tempo"
Cool, sophisticated
and melodically funky pop from Japan, recorded in 2014/15, six irresistible
new songs from veteran members of 90s Tokyo underground pop bands like
Love Tambourines, Arch and Bridge, all influenced by the Tokyo Neo Acoustic
scene as well as early "club music" like Acid Jazz, Rare Groove
and early Techno and mentored by Kenji Takimi of Crue-L Records.

DIIV
"Is the is are"
Is the Is Are, the highly-anticipated sophomore release from
Brooklyn-based DIIV, is an album years and many personal struggles in
the making for it’s architect, Zachary Cole Smith. Recorded and
mixed in various locations in Brooklyn, it showcases everything you
know and love about DIIV, and many things you did not, all with an added
nuance and depth. It is a 17-song, double-album statement intended to
resonate with its audience in much the same way that Bad Moon Rising
or Tago Mago has for Smith himself.

B-MOVIE
"Climate of fear"
UK
new wave icons, B-Movie, best known for their 1982 international smash
hit single “Nowhere Girl,” continue their triumphant return
with this brand new album featuring all 4 original founding members.
The band’s third album since their well-received reunion
in 2012, Climate Of Fear finds Steve Hovington and company at the peak
of their moody melodic rock powers, sounding as fresh and vibrant as
they did in their heyday, with a whole new set of keyboard-driven classics
such as the superbly danceable lead off single “Another False
Dawn,” the wonderfully moody title track “Climate Of Fear”
and many more!

RICARDO
DONOSO
"Symmetry"
The first three albums produced by Ricardo Donoso have been
compiled into two very handsome box sets by Denovali. Minimal polyrhythmic
ambient compositions that take the listener to a special place. As hypnotic
and questing as a Steve Reich piece. 3CD box or a limited-to-200-copies-only
quadruple white vinyl box.

NICOLA CONTE
PRESENTS STEFANIA DIPIERRO
"Natural"
Natural is the latest collaboration between musical travellers
and kindred spirits Nicola Conte and Stefania Dipierro, the culmination
of a relationship rooted in a shared belief in the spiritually healing
powers of music. The Italian duo is set to take 2016 by storm with a
sensual, sumptuous and highly accomplished record, firmly anchored in
the traditions of Brazilian bossa nova, samba and jazz.

FIELD
MUSIC
"Common time"
Field Music's relatively minor status in the world of pop
is surprising. Since their inception in 2004 they've put out some excellent
material, 2006's self-titled debut being a particular highpoint. Commontime
is the Brewis brothers' first studio release since becoming fathers
and this shift in responsibility forms the thematic backdrop of the
album.

HELIOCENTRICS
"Quatermass sessions: from the deep"
Returning after their
Last Transmission collaborative album with Melvin Van Peebles, the Heliocentrics
finish off their trawl through the vaults of tracks recorded at their
old digs Quatermass Studios with psychedelic tinged funk and jazz instrumentals
Rolling Stone describes as "...sprawling, with percussive patterns
that suddenly morph into extraterrestrial sound blasts and opaque, detouring
patterns." The CD combines tracks from both Quatermass vinyl volumes.

ELEANOR
FRIEDBERGER
"New view"
Friedberger’s latest album is called New View, and it’s
the third she’s released since the dissolution of The Fiery Furnaces,
the indie rock band she anchored alongside brother Matthew throughout
the ‘00s. It’s not as ambitious or eclectic as Last Summer,
an album that leapt from funk to folk to pop-soul and back again, but
it’s warm, rambling, and assured.

LOUISE LE
MAY
"A tale untold"
Louise Le May is something
different, a unique and very English talent. Sometimes hard to categorise,
her music in combination with the luscious, sophisticated arrangements
of Louis Philippe, soars. It's timeless, dreamlike and reflective. Her
voice, recorded with minimal fuss, open and natural is the first thing
you notice. It has a lightness yet conveys a surprising depth. In the
words of The High Llamas frontman Sean O'Hagan: "She has the steady
delivery of Judee Sill, but the harmonic flavour of Kate Bush or Robert
Wyatt." Louise released a limited edition EP in 2009 attracting
glowing reviews and airplay from Guy Garvey, Tom Robinson (including
a live session) and many others.

GOGO
PENGUIN
"Man made object"
GoGo Penguin are part of a small, elite pantheon of British
artists signed to the legendary Blue Note label, putting them in the
same room as jazz royalty. As Man Made Object shows, they’ve got
there by melding traditional jazz approaches with sounds from glitchy
electronica: all produced acoustically, of course.

MASHA QRELLA
"Keys"
Her new album "Keys"
shows Berlin-based musician Masha Qrella elegantly fusing disco-pop
and songwriting. Written and produced by Qrella in her studio within
one year, with this record, Masha Qrella creates a very distinct version
of pop music, subtly reminding you of her love for Elliott Smith, Neil
Young, Air or Metronomy, but always staying true to herself. Join her
on this emotional dance floor.

SCHOOL OF
SEVEN BELLS
"SVIIB"
Friends, Benjamin and I wrote this record during a tour break
in the summer of 2012. I can easily say that it was one of the most
creative and inspired summers of our lives. What followed was the most
tragic, soul shaking tidal wave that life could deliver, but even that
wouldn't stop the vision for this record from being realized. This is
a love letter from start to finish. It's the story of us starting from
that first day we met in 2004, and that's the story of School of Seven
Bells. So much love to all of you. Thank you for being a constant light
in our lives. This record is for you. -Alejandra

LNZNDRF
"S/t"
Revolving Beirut trumpeter Ben Lanz and Scott and Bryan Devendorf
a.k.a. The National’s rhythm section, LNZNDRF channel classic
Neu! and Amon Düül through a prism of effected guitars, motorik
linearity and broad synth shapes, bringing vocals into the mix with
a gentle touch in Beneath the Black Sea and in a manner recalling Spiritualized
in the gospel swells of M1 Storm, whilst Kind Things dabbles in slower,
African psyche-rock, and they reach their destination with a rousing
finale in the stomping, noisy Samarra.

UNDERWORLD
"Barbara Barbare we face a shining future"
Underworld’s first new studio album in 6 years is now
available. So what’s there in the shining future? The opening
punch of a two-note detuned bass riff crunching over relentless percussion;
the elegiac swoop of strings as they stretch out across off-world electronics;
a demented lupine howl that curls itself into an unshakeable earworm;
celestial techno and South American acoustics; voices that warp into
harmonic riffs; found lyrics that form fine-tuned monolgues; head music
to dance to...

NONKEEN
"The gamble"
Frederic Gmeiner and Sebastian Singwald. Gmeiner and Frahm
attended the same primary school in a rural suburb of Hamburg, and their
mutual interest in sound recording brought them together to form the
basis of a long-lasting friendship. In their second year of school,
they began producing their own radio show, which featured incidental
sounds from the school ground, the voices of their teachers, and recordings
of themselves practising their instruments, all recorded on rudimentary
tape machines for kids.

VENETIAN SNARES
"Traditional synthesizer music"
Traditional Synthesizer
Music is a collection of songs created and performed live exclusively
on the modular synthesizer by Aaron Funk. Each sound contained within
was created purely with the modular synthesizer. No overdubbing or editing
techniques were utilized in the recordings on Traditional Synthesizer
Music.

SAVAGES
"Adore life"
Savages' music was austere, their apparent influences easy
to name (Siouxsie, Wire, Gang of Four, Joy Division), but what frontwoman
Jehnny Beth was singing about was more complex. On the second collection,
Adore Life, they’re still exciting, but the tone has shifted considerably.
Not all of the songs work—a couple float by with power and grit
but no real hook— but the best moments here are incredible.

ANDREW WEATHERALL
"Convenanza"
A
man of many talents, Andrew Weatherall has largely focussed on DJing
and collaboration of late. Now the producer has outlined plans
for 'Covenanza', his first full length solo album since 2009. Out on
February 26th, the material is said to slip and slide through the producer's
vast network of sonic ideas - from post-punk to techno, left field house
to psychedelia.

WILD
NOTHING
"Life of pause"
Jack Tatum returns with his latest Wild Nothing album. Life
of Pause, the follow-up to Nocturne. With Life of Pause, Tatum delivers
what he describes as his most “honest” and “mature”
work yet, an exquisitely arranged and beautifully recorded collection
of songs that marry the immediate with the indefinable.

ADRIAN
YOUNGE
"Something about April II"
In the four years since the release of Something About April,
Adrian Younge has been coined America’s black genius: the evocation
of analog vestige in a digital era. His majestic music has garnered
him reverence, likened to Ennio Morricone’s best work and the
Beatles’ tenacity to create new sounds. Special guest, Laetitia
Sadier (Stereolab).
