BEIRUT
"No no no"
No No No album by Beirut was released on September on the
4AD label. Beirut's fourth full-length album, No No No, has songwriter/singer
Zach Condon swaying away from 2011's more indie pop The Rip Tide back
toward the European folk-infused eccentricity of the band's first two
LPs, and hanging out somewhere in between.

seduce rather than sway and swagger into submission, weaving a rich

HELIOS
"Yume"
The latest album from Helios, Yume takes its title from the
Japanese word for dream and delivers an otherworldly ambient/electronic
hybrid that’s cinematic in scope yet intimate in emotion. In making
the album, composer/multi-instrumentalist Keith Kenniff (the artist
behind Helios) has created a warm sonic tapestry from luminous guitar
lines, elegant piano work, ingeniously crafted rhythms, and lo-fi electronic
elements.

JULIA HOLTER
"Have you in my wilderness"
Have You In My Wilderness is Julia Holter’s most intimate
album yet, a collection of radiant ballads. Her follow-up to 2013’s
widely celebrated Loud City Song explores love, trust, and power in
human relationships. While love songs are familiar fodder in pop music,
Holter manages to stay fascinatingly oblique and enigmatic on her new
album.

JOSE
PADILLA

wholly in nature, and losing yourself in. It is a true musical journey
covering all angles of the balearic scene and reminiscent of one of

PRINZHORN
DANCE SCHOOL
"Home economics"
The UK duo Prinzhorn Dance School have spent years refining
a sound that was almost entirely free of excess and impurity to begin
with. Their self-titled 2007 debut was an austere ikebana arrangement
of bass, drums, vocals, and guitar that felt like an exercise in making
a post-punk record out of the fewest number of notes possible. Home
Economics is in some ways an even more spartan album than its predecessors.

here the two are in balance. Music Complete also marks a return to the

UNKNOWN
MORTAL ORCHESTRA

On Multi-Love, Unknown Mortal Orchestra frontman and multi-instrumentalist
Ruban Nielson reflects on relationships: airy, humid longing, loss,
the geometry of desire that occurs when three people align. Where Nielson
addressed the pain of being alone on II, Multi-Love takes on the complications
of being together.
